Rüdesheimer Winzerexpress

Herzlich Willkommen! Welcome! Bienvenue! Welkom!

Our town has about 10.500 residents but more than one million of visitors per year.

First times the village was mentioned in documents in the year 1074 as a little settlement along the river Rhine. It became popular when the first wine farmers opened their private family bars in the narrow Drosselgasse in 1727.

Only 144 meters long is that little street which was named “throstle lane” because in former times they had here trees with a lot of singing birds like throstles and blackbirds. From these birds the Drosselgasse got it’s present name.

Without the Drosselgasse, which is still the center of tourism in Ruedesheim, our town would not be that famous all over the world.
